Painting 1

Dates: Thursday Feb. 16 – March 29 (6 weeks) Note: no class March 15
Time: 7 – 9 pm
Cost: $95 members, $105 non-members

This class will examine the properties of acrylic paint, subject selection, painting surfaces,
the ‘rough in’ of major areas, light to dark values, colour blocking, colour adjustments and
finishing.

Painting 2

Dates: Thursday April 5 – May 17 (6 weeks) Note: No class May 5
Time: 7 – 9 pm
Cost: $95 members, $105 non-members

Painting II will continue building from the concepts covered in Painting I. Participants working
on small canvases will explore the following concepts: colour value, intensity and colour pallet
strategies. Also painting surface treatments including texture and glassing will be practised.
Come out for a relaxed fun evening and find your muse.

Knitting - Beginner

Instructor: Gloria Ord
Date: Wednesday February 15 – March 28, (6 weeks), Note: No Class March 13
Time: 7 – 9 pm
Cost: $95 Members, $105 non-members

Students will learn the basic knit and purl stitches, casting on and binding off, reading a
pattern, increasing and decreasing, and more.

Note: Materials needed: 4 – 4.5mm needles, 50g ball of cotton yarn. Some materials and

needles provided for first class.
Note: No class March 14 (March Break)

Knitting – Intermediate

Instructor: Gloria Ord
Date: Wednesday April 4 – May 16 , (6 weeks), Note: No Class May 2
Time: 7 – 9 pm
Cost: $95 Members, $105 non-members

Build on beginner knitting skills with basic pattern reading and how to fix common mistakes,
how to make a center pull ball, increasing and decreasing, knitting in rounds, cable stitches,
knitting with more than one color, Knitting with 4 needles, making I cords and much more.
Make your Granny proud!

Note: Materials not provided, you will need yarn and needles for your chosen project.

Photography – Portraiture

Date: Tuesday February 21 – March 20 (5 weeks), Note: March 12 class will take place in
instructors’ studio
Time: 7 – 9 pm
Cost: $60 members, $70 non members
Students will place an emphasis on Lifestyle and creative portraits. Lessons in camera
basics, natural and studio lighting, composition, etc. will be given in a casual and relaxed
atmosphere. Assignments will be given each week.

Note: Participants must have own digital camera.
